The 375 is 9 karat and the L is likely the year 1943 (English standard) The jH 9 I am not sure, but it could mean the repeat of this.
to clarify i have a necklace 300 yrs old or so I'm told it was found in Russia after tore a building down.it is made of some sort of hair and had 250g worth of gold coloured nuggets attached around it. i have melted 1 of the nuggets down and hammered it flat after grinding the surface off and buffing on the wheel it smooths out and shines really good put next to a 9ct brace and looks and feels exactly the same is heavy to hold i didn't think was gold till melted down and shined is there any way to be sure that there is no gold in it machine says 240 where 540 means 9ct on my model of acid tester would 240 mean 4 ct or does it not work like that. just looking of a way to know as man is adamant it contains gold just made along time ago.and to recap its non magnetic same appearance as 9ct when buffed scratches with a knife and after heating melted at 1300 heated to 1580 then let cool and hammered flat. what other things could i try willing to buy sum equipment as gold in shop is taking off and really wont to get into it.is there a chemical that only reacts with gold or heating with something else?? really appreciate any suggestions or help on the matter guys thanks
The word gold originates from the old English word "ghel". It is also the origin for the words gilt, gilding, gelded and geld, meaning to resurface with a shiny substance even with gold.
14 kt or 14 k refers to pureness of the gold or gold plating. Pure gold is 24 karat. There is nothing in your description that would help determine whether the necklace is 1 week old or 200 years old.
gold necklace and old record player
if it is gold then it will be around $1000 if it is old enough but if not then it can only be up to $50
It depends on what type of gold you are asking for as well as where you are purchasing it. There is silver gold, 18k gold, 14k gold. Where you are purchasing a gold necklace also plays a factor and what necklace design. I suggest going to a store to look at the prices. It should range from a hundred dollars to seven hundred dollars.

An 18K white gold jewelry item should be marked 18K or 750 somewhere on its surface. If it bears either of these stamps, then the silver color tells you it is white gold.Visit the links below for more information on gold markings.
