What colour is the wire?
There do not appear to be any wires coming from the starter motor itself, here's what goes to the solenoid:
PPL - From Transaxle Position Switch (AT) or the Clutch Start Switch (MT)
BLK - Ground from battery
BLU - Through fusable link C to coolant fans
RUST - Through fusable link B to charging system and HVAC blower controls (probably through the high-blower relay at the back right of the engine; beside the fuel pump relay).
no,will not line up
the tube going into the engine where it says OHC 2.0 in the back
1992 sunbird is obd1,1996 firebird is obd2.Will not work.
You can feel around for the bolts and wires once you remove them you have to twist and flip the starter to remove it it sucks a hoist will help and lots of light ... small hands/fingers too
It dep[ends on exctly which engine you have as to how difficult it is, Get a manual you your car and do the job correctly .
Starter is on passenger side of motor underneath intake bolted to trans bellhousing.
It probably is the key switch.
Four cylinder it is on the rear of the engine. Six cylinder it is on the front of the engine.Four cylinder it is on the rear of the engine. Six cylinder it is on the front of the engine.
It will be located next to the flywheel which is by where the engine and tranny meet.
it is the cylinder closest to the battery.
disconnect neg.cable, then disconnect pos. cable from starter ,then other wire, then remove 2 bolts holding starter to engine.
I have a 1992 Pontiac Sunbird with 2.0 four cylinder in it, just found the crank sensor on it, to replace it. It is located on the FRONT side of the engine, below exhaust manifold and just above the A/C compressor. HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE ELSE!
