Not sure about the 98 but on my 2002 you step through the info screen and when it comes to perform service (usually for an oil change) you have to hold the reset button for at least 30 seconds before it resets. I have a 2000. I just got an oil change today and I had to reset the service warning. I went to the screen that read 0 miles to service and pressed the reset button. This set the service schedule back to my preset interval of 3000 miles. Hope this helps.

It is quite simple. Turn ignition on, but do not start, press MENU, until display reads "service interval". Check the interval value displayed, and simply change it to another value using STEP. Press and hold RESET for approximately 3 seconds. Scroll further and display will read "change service interval". Select yes. Turn off ignition.
If you have replaced the bulbs and your getting that warning still, I'd say pull your battery terminals for 2 minutes then put them back on so the PCM/Computer can reset. That should fix the issue.
The owners manual from my 2010 Ford Edge Limited states that you must drive the vehicle for 2 minutes at over 20 mph before the warning light will reset.
