Since no year was specified I can only guess it is the Transmission Lock. The transmission has a lock-out that stops taking the transmission from going out of Park unless the Brake is applied.
BUT if there is a need to put the car in Neutral MANUALLY, say because of a complete electrical failure, a MANUAL RELEASE is provided on the Automatic Shifter Housing to Manually activate and remove it from park.
That is what you are calling a 'switch'.
It will be somewhere on the shift lever or linkage.
It changes the shift pattern of the transmission. You want to have this switch off at all times unless you are hauling some weight (i.e. a trailer). If you switch it on you will notice the transmission will delay the shift to ensure there is enough power to compensate for the added weight.
Type your answer here... This switch on automatic transmission models is a power selector. When in the "N" position the transmission shifts at Normal shift points. When "P" is selected the shift points are at a higher Rpm (Power).
the normal / power switch only found on 4speed A/T is on the shift console. the PRNL switch is on the side of all A/T transmisions.
AT switchThe at switch when pushed to the right makes the transmission hesitate a few seconds before changing gears. it gives you a little more power in the gears! to the left is normal gear changing as it says (normal)
the gear shift might just go inside the tranny and shift the gears internally.
if automatic its on right center line of tranny. see where shift cable goes. see object with wires. bingo.
The Shift Solenoid is located on the gear shift selector housing. Hope This Helps. Mike
un push the button on the shift console. done.
This is part of the neutral safety / transmission shift location switch / back up light switch. It is mounted on the transmission behind the shift sector shaft. The shift cable will run from the shifter to the transmission and this switch is mounted there on the side of the transmission.
cable is demand vacuum modulator is vacuum which translates to LOAD> last is governor ,and this is speed bases (rpm at tail shaft) how is that.
neutral safety switch is on transmission just below were shift cable connects to transmission
