Three phase electricity is like a three-strand rope of alternating current. Alternating current is conceived of as a sine wave, undulating equally up and down past the ''x" axis. Each "strand" in the rope is separated from its mates by 120 degrees, which is actually more a measure of time than of distance. As they are transmitted down the powerline, they overlap one another; and while one 'strand' is declining, another is ascending, and so on, delivering a smoother, fuller flow (higher RMS) of electricity to the customer's equipment. What does one mean by 3-phase loads?

Electrical circuits are designed in two phase types. Either single phase or three phase. A single phase is one wave of electricity while three phase is three waves that are offset.

Can you run a three phase motor with single phase generator with help of phase converter?

Terminology gets misapplied but a 3-phase converter produces a 3 phase supply from a single phase supply. The only proviso is that generator, converter and motor are all suitably rated and compatible.

Can a 6 watt dc generator produce that much electricity which can be used to run a 3 phase and a 2 phase motor?

"2 phase" and "3 phase" are descriptions of AC supplies, which no DC generator can imitate, regardless of its power rating.

What part makes torque in a 3-phase motor?

What size motor do you need to run a compressor 2 stage 80 gallon tank i have a 3 phase on it and want to change motor?

You probably need a 5hp or 7hp motor. Look for HP rating o the 3 phase motor and select the same for single phase. 3 phase has same power but is more efficient at electricity use. Also consider a 3 phase converter. It allows a 3 phase motor to run on single phase service.

What is phase 3?

It is a short-hand description of the torque from a 3-phase motor. By the nature of 3-phase electricity, a motor using it gives a constant torque, unlike a single-phase motor which gives a torque that pulsates at twice the supply frequency. Usually that does not matter because there is enough inertia in the rotating parts to mask the effect.
