It's like being in hell with no hope of ever leaving. They stress you out to a point you can't even imagine, to try and simulate the stresses of combat. Its the hardest basic training in the world.

Boot Camp, if we called it basic training, everyone would call us the second army or the Navy Corps. Capitalize the letter "M" in Marine. To get down to answer your question though, Week 1 is receiving, you basically get everything you brought with you aside from clothes taken and locked in bins. Week 2 is in the barracks. Waking up at times that shouldn't exist on a time clock to your Drill Instructor yelling "Lights lights lights!! Five Four Three Two and!!" If your ass ain't on that deck yelling "Aye Sir!" When he gets to 1, you are in for some serious hell. Week Three is The Bayonet Assault Course, and yes you DO use live Bayonets, not bayonet trainers. Week four is the pugil sticks, which is fun, you get to beat the hell out of some people with a large heavy q-tip. Week five is MCMAP(Marine Corps Martial Arts Program) where they teach you to fight like a Marine. Week six they teach you how to Repel, Its a 75 foot high Rappelling Wall, it says USMC on it, you've probably seen it on they're recruiting commercials. Week Seven is grass week, Its where they Prepare you to shoot your M16. Week Eight is Firing Week, you'll fire your M16 for the first time. 3 well aimed shots from 50 yards and you pass. Week Nine is the obstacle course, which consist of a lot of different things depending on the day. Week 10 is Day Movement, it teaches you how to stay alive in combat. Basically a Paintball game only a hell of a lot more extreme. Week eleven is the crucible, and I'm not gonna spoil the fun of that. And Week 12 is your Graduation if you passed, and the worst, most disappointing day of your life if you don't.
