The views on human nature refer to two sides of man: a. his social side, is man social of egoist, b. his capacity side: are people equivalent in their capacities of do they differ? Generally the left ideologies think people are fundamentally social if they live and grow up in benevolent conditions, so people need not to have strict rules because they tend to be social and will be good to othes , the right ideologies think man is not social (homo homini lupus est), so theur has to be a talented king or elite who governs and leads and threats to punish people who misbehave. On the capacity side, left people think people will develop all kind of skills, surely they will find means to govern themselves, in the end an anarchist society is possible. The right will think talents will differ so much that a gifted elite has to govern the others. Parallel to these views we find views on the nature of God: will God create people equal of will he be embodied in everyman, of will he be a tirannic God who will create an elite to govern the others (a king with the grace of God). drs Huub Philippens, h.philippens@planet.nl
