The same thing is also done nowadays in reverse. People erroneously use the first letter of a preposition in a phrase when they create an acronym for that phrase. For example, the acronym "USA" stands for United States of America. If the acronym was created in recent years it would be USOA, because most people mistakenly believe that the "o" in "of" needs to included. An example of this is an event for which I used to set up audio called the "World Series of Poker". The logo for the event consists of the incorrect acronym "WSOP" when it should in fact be "WSP".
