Each of the three versions of Nintendogs and cats has 9 different Dog Breeds. That is a grand total of 27 different pups. They are the toy poodle, schnauzer, German Shepard, Beagle, French bulldog, Golden retriever, Corgi, Boxer, Labrador, Shih Tzu, bull terrier, Chihuahua, Jack Russell, Pomeranian, Sheltie, Cavalier spaniel, Dalmatian, Yorkie, Husky, Basset hound, Miniature Pinscher, Great Dane, Pug, Maltese, Cocker spaniel, and Shibu Inu.

Quite a lot! In Chihuahua and Friends, The starting breeds are: Chihuahua, Boxer, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, German Shepherd Dog, Shetland Sheepdog, and Yorkshire Terrier. In Labrador Retriever and Friends, the starting breeds are: Labrador Retriever, Miniature Pinscher, Miniature Schnauzer, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Shiba Inu, and Toy Poodle. In Dalmatian and Friends, the starting breeds are: Dalmatian, Beagle, Boxer, German Shepherd Dog, Yorkshire Terrier, and Golden Retriever. In Miniature Dachshund and Friends, the starting breeds are: Miniature Dachshund, Golden Retriever, Beagle, Pug, Shih Tzu, and Siberian Husky, But you can unlock every one of these breeds in every version, and when you find the Jack Russel Terrier Book, you will unlock a Jack Russel Terrier.
