It would be the opposite. If we went to the moon when it was full, we would look back at an earth in shadow (a `new earth`)
If we went to the moon when it was new, then it would be between us and the sun, so we would look back at a full earth.
For a waxing gibbous from earth, the earth would be a waning crescent from the moon.
You see all of the hemisphere that is illuminated at that time.

The Phases of the moon are Full moon,Waxing Gibbous,Waning Gibbous, Waxing Cresent, Waning Cresent and New Moon.
... in the waxing gibbous phase.
It is a point in the waxing gibbous phase and can also a point in the waning gibbous phase, but not in the first quarter.
Waxing Gibbous
Waxing, as opposed to waning, is when the moon is getting bigger, going towards full. Gibbous is the phase when it's between half and full. So waxing gibbous is when it's nearly full.
Full Moon -> Waxing gibbous phase -> First quarter phase -> Waxing crescent phase -> New moon -> Waning crescent phase -> Last quarter phase -> Wanning gibbous phase -> Full Moon

The Moon phases when the Sea Of Tranquility is visible from Earth are the ones when that area is illuminated by the Sun. So, that's: part of the waxing crescent phase, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full Moon, and part of the waning gibbous phase.
