Judaism was also the first religion to articulate the idea of 'maschiach' (anointed). The Jewish maschiach will be a normal man, who must fulfill the relevant Jewish messianic prophecies before he dies. Christianity greatly revised this idea and declared that Jesus was the 'messiah'. Because he did not match the description of the Jewish maschiach, though, Jews do not recognise Jesus as anything other than a young preacher.
