In general, corrosion is the result of water with a low pH (below 7.0). Such acidic waters have lots of hydrogen ions in the water to react with the electrons at the cathode, so corrosion in metal pipes and fixtures is enhanced. Acid water can often be identified by a sour taste, and it will also dry your skin and hair.

When a magnet is dropped in a non ferrous pipe why does it not stop?

Unless a magnet dropped in a non-ferrous pipe is stopped by some imperfection in the pipe surface itself, it will not be stopped because a non-ferrous surface will not cause a magnet to cling to it.

If you have a 40 gpm pump delivering water through a 1 and a half inch pipe how high will the flow rise?

When pushing water through "rural class B poly pipe" The maximum flow you can achieve is 80lpm. However if you have the pipe running for 100m in length you loose 30lpm through friction loss. So at the end of the 100meter pipe you would only achieve 50lpm.

Is galvanized pipe ferrous or non ferrous?

Galvanization usually refers to a thin coating of zinc applied mechanically or (usually) electrolytically to steel or cast iron pipework, as a protective coating against rust. Iron and steel (an alloy of iron with carbon and other materials) are ferrous. Overall galvanized pipework is ferrous. The zinc coating is not. Similarly, any coating of paint or rubber doesn't alter the underlying ferrous nature of iron pipe.

What is ferrous piping?

Any piping containing Iron, usually Cast Iron, Steel & Galvanized pipe.

When the second pump which is designed for spa whirlpool effect feature only is turned on the spa is draining water through the vent pipe How can you stop this?

If by vent pipe you mean the venturi pipe it sounds as if it is plumbed backwards, in a spa jet you have 2 feed conections, one for water (the bottom pipe) and another for air (top pipe) if plumbed incorrectly water will back up out the venturi line (vent pipe)

What is the effect of UV radiation of sun on PVC pipes and how to protect the pipe from the UV radiation?

The only effect the sun has on PVC pipes is the impact strength of the pipe will be decreased and there will be some discoloration. The tensile strength and pressure strength of the pipe will not be effected. The best way to protect the pipe is to paint it with a water based latex light colored paint.

What is the effect of water pressure at the pipe joints?

Water constantly exerts pressure on pipe joints. I have seen old soldered joints flying apart when subjected to extreme pressure or trains passing nearby. This sometimes happens with plastic pipe also if joints are not thoroughly set .
