When you exercise the energy demand is higher and so respiration rate is higher. Respiration = Glucose + Oxygen --> Water + Carbon dioxide (+energy). So higher respiration rate, more carbon dioxide

Carbon Dioxide builds up during exercise because it is a by-product of aerobic respiration. When you exercise your body needs to respire more in order to supply the working muscles with energy. You therefore produce more carbon dioxide.

Exercise affects your breathing through many different ways.

Depending on the type of exercise (e.g. long distance, or sprinting) it could change the type of breathing that occurs.

For example, for short, fast running distances, you will switch to anaerobic respiration (glucose -> energy + lactic acid)

Exercise also quickens your breathing rate, and you take longer, quicker breathes.

If you exercise for a long time, your breathing rate will increase even more, until you are at your maximum uptake of oxygen/air.

when you exercise your cells will need more Atp to keep your muscles working good, therfore your body will increase on oxygen by making you breather faster or deeper. The amount of carbon dixode the cell produces will also increase.

All the time you are using your respiratory system.

The respiratory system takes the oxygen that you inhale and the glucose/sugar you eat through the body by being pumped through the bloodstream. Then when the oxygen and glucose reach your cells they react, causing them to create water, energy, and carbon dioxide.

When you are exercising your body needs more exercise so the heart works harder to get the oxygen and glucose/sugar to your cells to make more energy so that you can keep exercising. Whenever you make energy you make carbon dioxide. So when you are exercising you need more energy and when you create more energy you create more carbon dioxide.

the more you exercise the more carbon dioxide you produce as the metabolic activity of the muscle increases. the substrate which the muscle is using will also affect the CO2 production.

What kind of gas do you release in a large amount when you exercise?

Carbon dioxide

How does exercise affect the amount of carbon released from the lungs?

Your body is an engine that uses fuel (food) to produce energy for you to do exercise. The fuel contains carbon from the carbohydrates you eat, and the body uses oxygen from the air to do a chemical reaction that combines the carbon with the oxygen to produce energy plus carbon dioxide. If you do exercise, you use more fuel and more oxygen, and you produce more carbon dioxide. The body has sensors that detect excess carbon dioxide in the blood, and they make you breathe faster to get rid of it.

How does burning less fossil fuels reduce the amount of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere?

When you burn fossil fuels to make enrgy, carbon dioxide is released. So, if you burn less fossil fuels, less carbon dioxide is released.

Do threadmills release CO2?

Treadmills operate by muscle force. Muscles are powered by the conversion of sugars to energy and carbon dioxide. More energy is used and more carbon dioxide is released when people exercise. People exhale the carbon dioxide. So treadmill use results in the emission of more carbon dioxide than would be released by a person at rest.

Which increases the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere acting as carbon dioxide?

Respiration :)

Where does the plant get carbon dioxide from?

It's in the air and we exhale carbon dioxide.A small percentage of the atmosphere is carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is released by the metabolic processes of organisms, and by our burning of fuels. In recent decades, the amount of carbon dioxide has increased so much, some scientists believe maintaining the current amount of carbon dioxide will devastate Earth's climate. Actually, today there were festivals held all over the world to make people aware of this issue. See http://www.350.org/
