Reducing the amount of simple sugars in your diet is a great way to start losing weight, losing inches, reducing the chances of cancer and Diabetes, etc. I am not a fan of going crazy and trying to cut all simple carbs out of the diet, but reducing sugar intake is easy and effective. Many people find that just by cutting soft drinks (soda pop) out of their diet they start to see good results on the scale (weight loss) and with a measuring tape (lost inches around the waist). It is important to note that reducing sugar intake, or cutting calories in general, is only a small part of losing weight, losing inches and getting healthy. The results will be much better if you combine the sugar reduction with a good exercise routine.

Sugar will cause you to retain your belly fat. Carbohydrates and sugar cause you to retain water which adds weight to your belly as well.
