Silk is one of Ancient China's most popular exports.

During the ancient times, China is the only country with knowledge of producing silk.

All of China's trading partners desire silk products.

Catering to the exclusive set of rich and powerful, silk clothe are light, airy, comfortable, smooth, and expansive. Like all fine products today, wearing silk is a status symbol.

Silk was such a popular import the Roman Empire, it was banned for causing trade deficit. Ancient empires in Persia, India, Egypt all craved silk as well.
