There was a disease going around called mildew which made the potatoes all black and mushy so nobody could eat them or they would be poisoned

The disease was not called Mildew, it was called The Blight (Phytophthora infestans).

The potato famine was caused by a fungi called potato blight. after just days from coming out of the ground, the potato's would be slimy, black, and rotten.

the potato famine still exists today if farmers are not careful. this is because the potato famine was caused by fungus now we learned how to get rid of fungis and that is fungicide. if you think your potatos have fungus tthen make you own fungicide with baking soda and baking powder. put this on each seed.

The famine in Ireland occurred because in that time in Ireland everyone depended on potatoes to live because Ireland had a good climate for them. A disease called potato blight came on the potatoes and they started rotting, People were starving and they sold their homes to buy food and became homeless. Many died of starvation etc. and many if they had enough money emigrated to the US or in some cases to Canada.
