1964 was a banner year for Pontiac and the entire line came with a few engines that were quite good and powerful. Though there are no real small block and big block engines such as Ford and Chevy, (all pontiacs were big blocks) the Pontiac engine line had a number of different displacements in 1964. A few of those were from the bottom up and please don't take this for gosple truth as I have not owned a Pontiac of the 64 genre for some years, are as follows; 327,350,389 and the venerable 421 cid engine. While most mid size models had the smaller displacement engines as factory equipment, a few of the more preformance oriented pontiacs were blessed with the 389 cid and a single four barrel carb. Some had the optional hot and super cool three two barrel carburetor setup. Put this in front of the M-21 rock crusher four speed transmission and even the lead heavy old Pontiac family car came alive at the track! An even fewer had the 421 with the same setup available such as my own 1964 ventura. I hope this helped

i think the GTO has the LS2 6.2 That depends on what your idea of a Pontiac engine is. The "New" Pontiac GTO was available with the 6.0 engine. If you are talking about a traditional Pontiac engine, the largest factory offered engine is the 455 from 1970-1976.
