It depends on what kind of music you wish to make.
Here's the short list:
1) A recording device. This could be a DAW (digital audio workstation) on a laptop/tablet. Garageband, Logic and ProTools are examples of inexpensive programs that will allow multi-track recording of both acoustic and MIDI perfomances. You could use an old tape recorder.
2) A decent, affordable microphone that is compatible with your recording device.
$100
3) Instruments- This could be your voice, a guitar, or a MIDI controller used to trigger sound samples in your computer.
4) Headphones- you're going to need to hear the backing tracks while recording your vocal or overdubs... Maybe $20-$65.
5) Monitors- these are speakers designed not to sound fantastic, but to sound "flat" or "true." This is necessary for mixing. You need to hear a dead, unflattering mix so that your final track sounds good on any set of speakers. You can get a decent set of budget monitors for $150-$200.
6) A recording space- Ideally, you want a room that doesn't have slick, bare walls. Sound, like light, reflects off of surfaces. You want a "deader" response.
That's the bare-bones list, anyway. Good luck and have fun!
Depends on what quality of recordings you intend to make.
A mixer or mixing desk. mine is a 16 track behringer
A good selection of microphones, i use shure sm57's and shure sm58's and also Rode's NTK's.
Microphone leads.
Mic. stands.
The appropriate software, i prefer to use cubase. And wavelab for mastering.
Some good quality monitors (these are speakers), i use m-audio
You would need professional headphones, or any other brands (ie; beats), and you would need a mic, the ones with the circle pads, not the stage mic! All in all, you'd probably also need a stereo and an empty room ;) good luck
While any variety of Musical Instruments may be used in a recording studio, there are a few pieces of equipment that are needed to make the recording process work. A recording device is necessary, as well as microphones, cables, preamplifiers, amplifiers, monitors and hard drives in order to properly record in a studio.
- PC
- Sound Speakers
- Sound Card
- Microphone
- Popfilter
- Microphone preamp
- Recording software
at a minimum - a microphone a microphone cable and a computer with a soundcard and recording software.
A computer with a sound card.
Sound recording software. You can download Audacity for free. It is easy to use for recording and editing.
Photographs are taken in a lot of places, but often professional photos are taken in a photography studio.
I'm a 15 year old artist and I love making music but I don't have any equipment or go to any studios. I record on my cellphone but you know how that is... I was thinking about ordering a pop filter, mic and headphones. Will listeners be able to hear me clearly? Will I sound like I recorded in a studio?
Generally, no - the artist usually rents the studio(s) for a certain period of time to record the tunes, and the producer may or may not use the same studio for mixing the "tapes". However, studios that successful songs were recorded in sometimes get famous, and then get more business. But studios charge by the hour, not by the copy sold.
studio means no seperate bedrooms
NO. You could buy a case for your equipment or you could store it in a closet or even a room. I have a recording studio in my basement. But there is several other places you can keep recording studio equipment.
Inner face
There are a number of furniture types that can be used in a recording studio. The most needed items are studio racks to store hardware, studio desks to fit the control surfaces and comfortable seating.
I have a recording studio in my house, but here is what I have... -Mic -PC -Speakers -Pop filter -Mixer -Preamp + additional things (couch, rug, etc.) I got all this equipment for under $700 I would recommend eBay or Amazon That's where I got everything I needed for cheap
The equipment needed for a home studio will vary depending on whether one wishes to produce electronic music or record real instruments, but a good pair of studio monitors and a reasonably fast computer will be essential in either case, as well as digital audio workstation software. For live recording, high end microphones and studio headphones will be needed. For electronic music, one will need a selection of virtual instrument and effects software, or hardware synthesizers and effects units depending on preference.
Yes. For a fraction of the price of a professional studio, you can get the equipment needed and record yourself at home. The sound quality wont be nearly as good however because professionals at a studio have good gear, and know how to use it.
"You can do a quick internet search to find what recording studio equipment company is right for you. Depending on what you are trying to do whether purchase equipment for yourself or use software for your recordings. Virtual DJ, Beat maker, and Cool Edit are just a few software companies."
You record your music at a recording studio.
When they are in the recording studio, they are recording. It's their job.
