When Siddhartha Gautama left the palace for the first time as an adult, he saw a man who seemed to be suffering. Then he saw a monk who had no possesions, but seemed to be so peaceful, so he gave up his life of luxury to become a monk.
Siddhartha Gautama lived the early years of his life in Kapilavastu in Nepal. Later in his life, he abandoned his kingdom, and went out to live life as a monk, to observe the meaning of life and develop this philosophy. He did later return to Nepal once again after enlightenment as Buddha.This is what I know and I .It is advised to also refer to scriptures and text of Buddhism as they will tell every event and aspect about Siddhartha's/Buddha's life.
