The black death was definitely a huge impact on the end of feudalism in Western Europe. Also the peasant revolt was a major factor but not as much as the black death. I'm still researching and so far have found nothing else, I'll post as i find, good luck ! :)

The Black Death was a HUGE part of the declination of feudalism. It really is a shame that one plague caused such a huge impact back then.

Main 4 reasons are : -Magna Carta

-Black Death

-Peasants revolt

-The Crusades

They all relate to each other and they're listed in order ;) I hope it helps.

When Rome fell, and Charlemagne's rule ended, the order provided by a centralized government (Rome/France), was nowhere to be found, and Europe's "barbarian" neighbors including the Vikings, started conducting a series of quick violent raids, that completely terrorized the Christian's in the countryside farms and villages of western Europe. The constant threat of attack, meant anyone who wasn't living behind a stone wall needed protection. Men who lived behind stonewalls strengthened their walls, building castles, and then offered protection to the surrounding people. They would become lords, using little more than a stonewall, they acquired wealth and titles and the days of feudalism had arrived The feudal system was one big happy bartering system in which the lords protected and the surrounding people, while claiming their farms and villages, in return for taxes, a tribute, free work, and an obligation to soldier in the their landowner's army when called upon. This worked heavily in the favor of Feudal Lords, who could provide the security and law order that and been extinguished when the lights went out on the Roman Empire. This was only possible while people were desperate to have their basic needs met, (the dark age) and the Monarchs of Europe had not grown strong enough to provide for people directly after the loss of so much knowledge. Europe stepped backwards away from the light of science and logic and when life on earth is miserable, and superstition and fear run rampant, religion gives people the one emotion stronger than fear. Religion brings hope. With all of these conditions in place, 1)hungry terrified people in need of protection and desperate for hope, 2) a lack of order or central power, in Western Europe leaving people to fend for themselves, and 3) The Church, the Monarchs and the Lords, and their people all stand to gain a great deal as long as they give each other what they need. A system of bartering, favors, and social contracts. The Kings need the Church to convince people that god has chosen them to rule, (Divine Right)the King will bring all of his power together in order to protect a church that not only ensures that people believe in their monarch's divine right to rule, but also gives hope to people, of divine reward in the afterlife, making them willing to suffer in this life, by slaving away for the Lords. The real power in feudalism was with the lords. All they owed the king, was a small tax, and pledge to bring their army to battle when summoned. In return, the King or Queen, who was godly, in the eyes of peasants and serfs, thanks to the Church, would convince the people that if they wanted to please god, they would give undying loyalty to their lords and suffer in this life, because the next life would be heaven. It was not uncommon for the powerful lords to become so rich of the hard labor of commoners , that they were more powerful than their King. Knights were bound by chivalry, but really they were just mercenaries who sold their services to the highest bidder. If everybody did their part, this system worked, at least for a few hundred years, until the plague severely cut population, making the commoner and their labor more valuable, more able to acquire wealth, and eventually self sufficient without needing a lord.
