What exactly is going on with the health care insurance in America?

Health insurance is a very costly endeavor. All insurance companies must take a risk covering other people for health care and still make enough profit to cover costs. Medical costs have risen over the last three decades thanks to superior technological breakthroughs in surgery, diagnostics, drug regimens and cost of labor and expenses. Some one has to pay for all this improvement. Guess who? The insurance carriers and you. Therefore medical costs and usage of the improved medical breakthroughs and increase in adult population (boomers and their kids and seniors living longer) has cost insurance companies a lot of money and you too. So they have to charge higher premiums for all their plans. Some workplaces cannot afford the high premiums so the employees lose out on getting coverage. Other people who don't have jobs must resort to purchasing individual plans from the health insurance carriers at a high cost. Thankfully there are some plans that are affordable. However, a single parent may not be able to afford this or a single college student. Therefore, the government has been trying to come up with a plan that covers everyone. Sadly, that will cost Americans a lot more than they are paying now for their current coverage. Another problem that will arise is adding all the millions of people to the medical treatment flow. We won't have enough medical personnel or hospitals to take on all the people who do not have insurance right now. The plan the government is considering now is a disaster. Nationalized health coverage has huge problems in other countries. Someone needs to come up with a good solution.
