A fruit is a part of plant - like a stem, or a leaf, or a petal - rather than necessarily being something suitable for human consumption. There are therefore many, many, many more fruits that can't be eaten than those which can. Some obvious examples are the fruit of the deadly nightshade, or belladonna, plant should not be eaten, for reasons obvious from its name. The fruit of the datura should not be eaten for similar reasons.
All berries of the Nightshade (potato) family, including common potato fruit (what we eat is the tuber- part of the root storage system) are deadly. Yew, holly and ivy berries are also deadly. Most fruit is edible, as it is designed to be eaten and the seeds deposited in a nice lump of manure. All these fruits are edible to some wildlife.

another one that can't be eaten are baneberries, they're toxic, especially the stem/root. The deaths are rare but you shouldn't eat them since they still have very bad symptoms like fever, nausea, vomiting
Tomatoes are examples of fruits that are often served cooked and mistaken as vegetables.
