Linens, silk and wools.. sometimes cotton prints would be imported from over seas but that was very costly and rare.

The pioneers always used fabrics that would wear well (meaning that they'd last a long time) because they didnt have a lot of money to spend on materials for clothing.

Gingham, corduroy, cotton to name a few.

Pioneers didn't waste anything. If one child had outgrown a piece of clothing and the hem had been let down as much as it could, the next child in line would recieve that piece of clothing or it would be cut into pieces to be used in quilts or other clothing
