Pumpernickel bread and Swedish crispbread (Knaeckebrod) are often made out of 100% whole grain rye. Rye is also used as one ingredient of many in breads, hot cereal (rarely on its own), and many other grain products. Because rye has a heavy characteristic and is lower in protein than wheat, it is less commonly used on its own. However, rye is beneficial to the digestive system in many ways.

Hi, They were made by Energen Foods who also used to make gorgeous cheese flavoured crispbread. They were fabulous, and were around through the late 60.s and early 70,s. Best tasting crispbread ever!

Nabisco no longer produces Rye Triscuits. The original Rye flavor has been discontinued, but Triscuits are still available in a variety of other flavors. You may find the Rye flavor in some specialty or vintage food stores.
