I was raised in the Seventh-day Adventist church. My father was a minister. To answer your question, typically no. Adventists believe that to have a clear mind you must to as healthy as possible and that the body is the temple of God and since meat tends to degrade the health, most Adventists do not eat meat. However, if you are going to eat meat, Adventist believe that the health laws of Leviticus are still binding so that the only meats that a Bible believer can eat are the ones that The Bible defines as being clean.

Clean animals are as follows:

Mammals: Must have a cloven hoof and chew the cud (Leviticus 11:3) Examples of Clean Mammals: Cows and Chickens

Fish: Must have scales and fins (Leviticus 11:9)

Birds: Clean except for listed unclean birds (Leviticus 11:13) (unclean being scavengers like vultures, hawks, eagles, etc.)

Other answers/comments:

Outside of the United States, the number of Adventists that eat meat varies, but is often higher than in the US.

Seventh-day Adventist can eat anything they want; however, church doctrine teaches that it is best to follow a vegetarian diet. If you do eat animal sources you are to choose from Biblically clean sources. See the Christian bible: Leviticus chapter 7.

We go by the bible, God created things such as grain, fruit, vegies that God created and meant in the first place for all humans to eat. There are no restrictions on those, however when we start talking about meat, that's where some restrictions come into play. First of all, the meat we eat cannot have blood in it, simply because the animal that meat came from may have diseases in it. Also the meat that we eat has to be "clean", there are 2 things God specified that a land animal must have in order to be clean, that would be they must have a cloven hooves and they must chew the cud. NKJV Leviticus 11:3 "Among the animals, whatever divides the hoof, having cloven hooves and chewing the cud-that you may eat." 2 examples of these animals would be cows and chickens. Leviticus 11:7 "And the swine, though it divides the hoof, having cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud, is unclean to you." Pigs have cloven hooves but don't chew the cud so pork is not clean. An animal must have both in order to be clean.

Why aren't Seventh-day Adventists able to eat seafood?

Adventists don't eat some seafood because it is unclean, according to Leviticus 11. However, if a fish has fins and scales, Adventists can eat it since this is allowed in the Bible. However, since many Adventists are vegetarian they abstain from all seafood besides seaweed. Emerging science has revealed staggering amounts of mercury in fish of all types, strengthening the Adventists' reason to abstain from all flesh food.
