I have fatty liver and lam not sure what diet l can go on. can you please advise me what diet is best please.

NB: A fatty liver is NOT due to eating fatty foods. It is a form of disease, often caused by excess alcohol consumption that has damaged your liver. You will need treatment to control the spread of the disease. Actually there is another type of Fatty Liver. It's called Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver and it IS caused by fatty foods. Reduce your fat intake, drink plenty of WATER, get more rest and exercise. My GI doctor recommended the Weight Watchers program for me. Each person is different, so consult your doctor before changing your diet and make sure you get your levels check every 3 to 6 months. This disease can be beat! Hang in there. I don't know any foods that would help for sure, but I do know of one food based supplement: phosphatidylcholine. While it is not an FDA approved treatment for cirrhosis of the liver, there are several clinical trials which have shown it's effectiveness.

1) Quit drinking alcohol.

2) Avoid sweets and sugary foods and drinks.

3) Avoid simple carbs such as potatoes, white bread, white rice, pasta and pastries.

In general, do your best to lose weight - gradually - and eat a more healthy, balanced diet, without junk food.

Although a poor diet can lead to high cholesterol, a good diet can help reduce cholesterol levels. Cholesterol is only found in animal products. Most foods that reduce cholesterol are plant-based. Soluble fiber, which is found in whole grains, beans, eggplants, citrus fruits, apples and grapes, binds to cholesterol and takes it out the body. Some foods, such as nuts, plant oils and soy, lower LDL cholesterol. Fatty fish is low in saturated fat, unlike other meats. Also, the omega-3 fatty acids in fatty fish help lower LDL cholesterol.
