Best Answer

The ancient Romans ate many of the same foods that we eat today, minus the tomato and corn and pineapple. They ate eggs of all types, olives, grapes and other fruits and veggies in season with apples being a great favorite. Beans, wheat, and barley based dishes were common. The exotic foods such as peacock eggs, flamingo tongue, stuffed dormouse, or camel's hoofs were reserved for the very wealthy and then only at banquets when the host was trying to outdo someone else.
