It depends on a lot of factors like the geographical features of the place, altitude, soil and what sort of crop one wants. suppose you live in an altitude of around 2000mts and you have black soil and average to good rainfall and you want to grow some cash crop tea would be better. moreover the market is also important. consider all these factors.

plymouth was hilly and very bad soil for growing crops. the rivers were good for trade
Type your answer here... the main geographical feature were the rivers,Tigris and the Euphrates river which also created good farmlands for growing crops.
People usually settle where there is good climate, good soil, and water. People will settle near rivers but cataracts, mountains, and deserts will prove barriers to settlers.
