Cannabis has several medical uses, but they are poorly documented because government regulation has made it nearly impossible to conduct real scientific studies on the drug.
Cannabis relieves interocular pressure, so cataract patients find relief without debilitating chemical pain and pressure relievers. It also reduces nausea, so patients on chemotherapy will use it. And because it reduces neurological pain better than any analgesic or any other pain medication, MS patients with neurological pain will also use it.

Is marijuana legal in Maryland?

No marijuana is not allowed in Maryland. There is medical
marijuana in Maryland.
Added: There is what is called an "affirmative defense" in
Maryland for medical marijuana users. This is different than legal
medical marijuana. What it means is that if you were to go to court
for a marijuana offense, you could bring up medical necessity as a
defense. This will only work if you can show an established
relationship with a physician who has given their recommendation
for use. Good luck with that.
