If you are in your undergraduate studies, you can take any subject/major as long as you fulfill the prerequisite courses asked for by the vet school you wish to attend. Check with each individual institution for more details. Strong emphasis of science courses such as Biology will be helpful. Anatomy courses (even if they are human) would be helpful to take and animal nutrition courses may be helpful as well.
In order to be accepted into a good vet school you must be a college graduate (4 yrs) with enough math and science to qualify you for vet school. It is very competitive and schools can pick and choice which students they want to enroll. The entrance board usually likes to see a student that has worked at a vet's clinic whether paid or volunteer. When it comes to vet school more is better. Without a doubt you must have very solid grades and good study habits.
Money is another thing. Education is not cheap. There are grants and scholarships that you can apply for if you are short in your funds. But grants and scholarships are usually given to the people that have top grades.
Don't let this discourage you. It will be hard work but think what you get to do for the rest of your working life, you get to work with horses.
first you need to be very good at science and be good with animals. then once you get to college get your bachlors degree
ya it takes a long time a year undergraduate school and on the field training and a ton of money!
I would recommend getting the best grades you can...
The same as for any other kind of vet. Contact the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for details, or any veterinary school. It's easier to get into medical school, though.
what grades do I need to be a vet
it depends what job you get into equine or human :P
equine vet
All of them: Math, Calculus, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English, and Social Studies. You must finish all of your Grade 12 classes and pass the exams with at least 70% to 75% to be able to enroll in the Pre-Vet program or Animal Sciences Pre-Vet program to start your way on becoming an equine vet.
Any school of veterinary medicine will give you the basics towards becoming an equine veterinarian; if the school doesn't have a strong equine program there you can supplement your time in vet school with externships and experiences at other schools or at private equine facilities. Once you get out of vet school, the important thing is to work with a good established equine veterinarian to hone your technical skills.

Specific high school courses will have little to do with becoming a veterinarian. You will need good grades to enable you to get into college and good grades there in order to get into vet school.
Entry into vet school is more competitive than medical school, so you will need excellent grades, mostly As maybe a couple Bs.
Get good grades in science subjects, get lots of work experience, apply to a vet school
Equine are horses, donkeys, mules or zebras so equine vet only treats animals of those types. If you mean the number of client animals, it would vary by vet, location, specialty.
