Soldiers who were not regular Army or regulars in other forces did their regular military jobs. Soldiers who volunteered or were conscripted in to the Army had hundreds of types of jobs. They were Accountants, lawyers, teachers, professors, doctors, business owners, insurance agents, soda fountain and drug store workers, janitors, maintenance men, engineers, government workers such as in local governments or any other job. Many were farmers, ranchers, new high school graduates, new college graduates or unemployed and glad to get a job in the military.
