war production began, lower unemployment, conscripion or drafting with the American forces and building up (18 million men were called up) and 11 million men were in military service and a small account were sent abroad .about 4 million men to Europe and half a million ,most of them naval staff and marines were sent to the pacific! home there was some rationing of food, and other stuff!
