If the coolant level drops too low the engine temp will most likely increase but this will not happen till the level gets fairly low. If the level goes down quickly you should probably look for a leak and keep in mind that the coolant also flows through the heater core under the dash. If there is mo visible leak and the level keeps stoping I would recommend checking the oil level as there may be an internal leak and if so the oil may appear over full. Next you want to check the exaust for white smoke caused by coolant entering the combustion chamber through a leak in the head gaske or a crack in the head. Hope this helps. Good luck.
