Large fires take on a life of their own. A conflagration can evolve into a firestorm if there is enough fuel and conditions are right. In a firestorm, the fire is so big that it depleats all the "local" oxygen from the air, and then air is "sucked in" from everywhere around the firestorm. The fire itself has created its own supporting air movement (wind) so it can "breathe" freely. Use the link below to learn more.

simply cover a burning candle with a glass to cut off the air, then the candle will burn out
the flame uses oxygen and if you cover it, the candle will burn all the oxygen and will go out because it ran out of fuel

The concentration of oxygen in the air in the beaker becomes insufficient for the flame to carry on burning, or the carbon dioxide produced is trapped in the beaker, and the increased concentration causes the flame to be extinguished.

It will simply go out as fire needs to burn oxygen, too. You can see this. Empty and clean an aluminum soda can. Place a burning candle deep in a jar. Pour a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide in the soda can. Cover and shake upright. Leave the liquid in the can while you slowly pour the carbon dioxide gas into the jar and it puts the candle out by pushing all the oxygen up and out.
