The white people didn't like that the blacks were near them. Although the segregation laws had been diminished, the white people still verbally and emotionally attacked the blacks.

Martin Luther King Jr. is a great man becasue he has got us to where we are today. He was the one who realized that black and whites should be able to communicate and be together to share and laugh and be together. Because of him blacks and whites can now eat in the same resturants, go to town, drink out of the same water fountain,go to school together, and do everyday things with the people we love and are for. We should all give him reconigtion and realize wat he did for this country and if it wasnt for him we would not be the same society we are today. Sure we need to work on things but wat matters is that we can all live together and except everyone for their race and religion and things that make up wat every person is in this world today!

There are a plethra of things that Blacks and whites could not do together. The problems in this matter was primarily "South of the mason dixon line". Just to list a few are: eat, drink, sleep, live, talk, wed, look at each other, blacks could not contradict whites.
