Depending on their status and power, they would be hunted down, arrested and beheaded. To die with your arms tied behind your back, was considered an extremely dishonorable death, reserved only for brigands and thieves. See, the way animals are slaughtered in East Asia, is generally with a lightning fast lopping off of the head. Even though Buddhism forbids the consumption of meat, periods of famine or political tyranny, forced many in east Asia to seek more exotic forms of sustenance. Personally I don't think people are supposed to eat them; in east Asia they only ate them because things were terrible. It talks about how black people eat unhealthily because during their slave days, slave masters would give them the parts of the pig they themselves would not eat, and the reason, pig parts in black cousine are literally drowned in grease, is to make it edible. It became tradition, a part of black identity, however like the episode's message said, people are not supposed to be eating that, any more than Chinese should be eating goose embryos. Their ancestors ate dogs, and rats, and goose embryos because they were starving, and their families were starving.

Brief history lesson aside, the way you slaughter animals in east Asia, is with one clean, decisive swipe, so the animal does not suffer, to at least follow SOME of Buddhism, if the convention of veganism can not be followed. Buddhists, by the way, are 100% vegetarian, the strictest Buddhists, although, the majority are ovo-lacto vegetarians. Whatever the case getting to the point; the idea of hunching over and waiting to get your head lopped off, was similar to the idea, of lopping off the head of a pig people were going to be eating. That is, to have your head cut off with your arms tied behind your back, sent the message that "we will end your life, the way the life of an animal is ended, not the way the life of a warrior is ended." If a Samurai behaved dishonorably, that was his punishment; he would not be allowed to take part in a battle where the odds against him are hopeless, that way he dies honorably, nor would he be allowed to commit sepuku. He would simply be hunched over, and have his head lopped off, as if he was an animal.

A samurai who lost his honor would often commit ritual suicide by cutting open their abdomen with a blade. Often an accomplice would be standing by to finish them off by decapitating them with a sword. This form of ceremonial suicide was known as Seppuku.
