In the years 1814-1815, Europe was reorganized (after the defeat of France in the Napoleonic Wars). The heads of state, from countries across Europe (Portugal and Spain ... all the way to Russia), redrew the boundaries of almost all of the countries involved in the Congress. Many books and articles (both in print and on the internet) provide detailed information on the exact changes made.
