After LBJ took the Oath of Office aboard Air Force One, Judge Sara Hughes handed it off to someone she believed to be a Secret Service Agent when she deplaned, at the bottom of the stairs coming down from AF1 to the tarmac. Judge Hughes assumed it would be returned to the Kennedy family, but the missal was actually given to a member of the Johnson party, and found it's way into Ladybird Johnson's collection.

After a few years, The Johnson family rediscovered the missal in their possession and offered to return it to the Kennedy family. Jacqueline Kennedy graciously declined the offer, noting the missal was now more a part of LBJ's legacy and Presidency, and would only serve as another tragic reminder of the fateful day she lost her husband, and the nation lost a President.

Thus, the missal has remained a part of the LBJ collection and now resides on permanent display at the LBJ library in Austin, Texas.

There is no specific information available about what happened to the Catholic Missal that Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn in with. It is possible that it was returned to the Catholic Church or kept as part of a historical collection.

Which president was sworn in on a catholic mass book and not a bible?

This question has the flavor of Urban Myth... Although, after a little searching and thinking, no book at all is a requirement for administering the oath. So, why not? Maybe LBJ did use a Missal. It doesn't invalidate his oath.
