The 102 passengers stayed on the ship while they made houses and began to clear fields. As soon as they were done the ship left for England leaving the 63 Pilgrims behind. Christopher Jones, who commanded the Mayflower on its famous voyage to Plymouth, Massachusetts, died in 1622. So you can argue for either Southampton or Plymouth. To add to the confusion, the Mayflower then stopped off at Newlyn in Cornwall for water.
