To your question, Yes there was indeed an enormous fortune that was deposited into the Bank of England, and Barclay's Bank in London, and other banks in Europe, the main bulk was mainly deposited at England. Between the years of 1904-1905 Empress Alexandra Feodorovna (formerly; Prinzessin Alix Victoria (Viktoria in German) Helena Luise Beatrice von Hessen und bei Rhein), the consort and wife of Tsar Nicholas II deposited eighty-million (then) in Russian gold roubles. Today, this fortune would be at estimations about 200 million, or 80 billion still in Russian gold roubles, of course we must take into account the current inflation of the banks of the world, and the Great Depression before, and the two World Wars. But it would be safe to estimate that amount in Russian gold roubles that is still to this day sitting in vaults waiting to be claimed.

Now, strictly speaking the Bank would say to just about anyone that they do not have any knowledge or know how of any deposits or vaults containing Russian roubles sent there by the Imperial Family during the two-year span of 1904-1905. But, the money which by now in 2011 would have accumulated tremendously even though of the Great Depression and both World Wars, and the current inflation of economy, it's still there.
