It was this aid (this essential aid!) that turned the war and eventually brought Germany (and Japan in WWII) to concede defeat, allowing both wars to end.
In the case of Japan it was the atomic bombs dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki that forced Japan to capitulate.
