Akela and Baloo
Akela was the leader of the wolf pack in Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book. He was wise, courageous, and respected by all the animals in the jungle. Akela upheld the Law of the Jungle and made fair decisions for the pack, earning him the loyalty and admiration of his fellow wolves.
Shere Khan plays upon young wolves natural distrust of men. Additionally he feeds them scraps from his kills to reenforce the idea that he is their friend and can provide for them better than Akela. Finally Shere Khan convinces the youngsters that they don't need a leader and should become the "free people"
