It flies from Seattle, Washington, to Seoul, Korea, in 34 minutes. It's hard to say what would happen to the plane (except that it would wind up circling the airport for an hour waiting for an open runway) because no one's ever made a plane that can go nine thousand miles per hour.

Mach - Rainbow song - was created on 2011-12-07.
It depends on the altitude of the aircraft. At sea level on a standard day, Mach 2 equals 1522 miles per hour.Nothing special.Whereas, when an aircraft approaches Mach 1 and exceeds it, the aerodynamics change quite differently. For example, everyone knows that when fluid travels through a tube and the tube gets smaller, the fluid flow increases in speed. The reverse is true for fluid going greater than Mach 1. It doesn't seem logical or possible, but the fluid will increase in speed when the area increases. This change is seen in the design of the engine inlets and other fuselage contours of the latest super-sonic jets. The fluid dynamics do not change until the speed reaches hyper-sonic speeds of mach 12 or higher.

The F-15 Eagle is one of the worlds fastest operational fighter jet with a top speed of Mach 2.5. However the Russian Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-25 "Foxbat" interceptor is capable of Mach 3.2 if the pilot is willing to destroy his engines, and is normally restricted to Mach 2.8. Also it's successor the MiG-31 "Foxhound" is also capable of Mach 2.8. Also the American Lockheed YF-12 interceptor, one of the predecessors of the SR-71 "Blackbird" was approved for acquisition by the USAF back in the 1960's, but due to government intervention the order for 100 planes was canceled. The YF-12 was reportedly capable of Mach 3.35. A similar fate also occured to the Canadian Avro Arrow program which was scuttled in the late 1950's, the initial design brief was for a Mach 2 capable interceptor, years before any other similar aircraft existed, though there were other similar programs. One of the design studies suggested that with some modification to the design it would be Mach 3 capable.
Answer Mach 12 Supersonic Speed usually refers to speed just above Mach 1, or as high as Mach 3. Hyper-speed is a higher range but there is no set definition.

Fastest Fighter Jet on EarthThe fastest "true fighter" on Earth (meaning an aircraft that has weapons and the capability to shoot down other aircraft) is the Soviet/Russian MIG-25 Foxbat. It has, or rather had, a top speed of MACH 3.2. However it's not the absolute fastest aircraft, the absolute fastest "air-breathing" aircraft in the world is of course the famous SR-71 Blackbird. Who's top speed is STILL classified, but it is widely rumored to have been able to travel at well over MACH 3.5+.Going by the above definition of "true fighter" I would have to say that the somewhat obscure A-12, nearly identical to the SR-71, was designed to shoot down soviet bombers, was configured to fire missiles. Check it out!The fastest fighter jets in service (or ever used in service) are the MiG 31 "foxhound" or the MiG 25 "foxbat", which do look very similar. people get confused and call the SR-71 the fastest jet FIGHTER, when it is not a fighter plane, it is actually a surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft (that's what the "SR" stands for).Since the American SR 71 blackbird is only a strategic reconosance aircraft, the fastest fighter aircraft is the soviet Mig 25 foxbat which goes up to Mach 2.8The second answer is partially correct. There is an experimental fighter, almost identical to the SR-71 Black bird designated the A-12, which has firing capability, but is relatively useless. The A-12 had missiles, alright, but it couldn't aim them or lock on. It was still a reconnoisance aircraft with modifications for defending itself. Then they developed the YF-12 as an alternative, which has an AN/ASG-18 fire-control radar to shoot the missiles. Also, the YF-12 carried 2 passengers instead of 1, and had modifications to the fuselage.
