You can expect some swelling around the nose and eyes. It usually peaks after about 3 days and it should disappear in 7 - 10 days. Black eyes are possible depending on the individual. You surgen can advise you to other possible side effects of the surgery.

∙ 9y agoIt depends how hard you were hit. If your nose bleeds afterward, I would call my surgeon ASAP and try to get an early checkup to make sure theres no damage. I have hit my own nose a couple of times while healing from my nose job, but it wasn't that hard. Bottom line is if there is no bleeding, you probably won't see a dent in your nose lol Hope this helps!

∙ 6y agoSurgeons put gauze in the nose after surgery, such as after rhinoplasty (nose job). This is called packing because the gauze is pushed in tightly to prevent bleeding and thus, aid to prevent extensive swelling.

∙ 9y agoI had my rhinoplasty 4 weeks ago. After my surgery, I didn't feel comfortable talking at all because everything felt so numb/sore/weird. So I don't recommend trying to talk. Of course, if I needed something I could talk a bit, more like mumbling the first day then things got a lot better each day. I would say at least a week (but it's different from person to person) before I could talk comfortably.

∙ 11y agoNothing is in the nose after rhinoplasty that wasn't in there before. Temporarily the patient will have cotton balls with antibiotics layered on them in their nostrils to help with bleeding after the surgery. These are typically removed within a couple days. Aside from that, the Surgeon simply makes physical adjustments to the nose that reshape its appearance and allows for better internal breathing.
