Salt is needed in order for our body to transfer nerve impulses and many other things. On average, our body needs around 1 to 2 grams of salt per day. But if we get to much salt, our kidneys start to secrete too much sodium which in turn produces the hormone, Renin. Renin makes our body hold on to moisture. The result of this is a dramatic rise in blood pressure.
