Did Saddam Hussein like led zeppelin?

No, that is a myth spread by Led Zeppelin haters. Saddam Hussein never listened to Led Zeppelin.

Was Saddam a president when he was caught?

[1] Saddam Hussein was the fifth President of Iraq. His term began on July 16, 1979. [2] And the United States considered it ended on April 9, 2003. For that was the date on which American forces took control of the capital city of Baghdad. [3] But Saddam Hussein and his lawyers didn't share that opinion. They challenged, albeit without success, the legality of the Special Tribunal by which he was tried and sentenced to death by hanging. For their opinion was that Saddam Hussein never stopped being their country's President.

What types of military weapons did Saddam Hussein have?

Saddam Hussein may at one time have had ambitions to have nuclear weapons, but he never had them. By the time he was ousted he had no significant chemical weapons. He did have a supergun designed by Gerald Bull.

When did the US invade Iraq in an effort to remove Saddam Hussein from power?

The US invaded Iraq on March 20, 2003 with the intent of overthrowing Saddam Hussein and discovering his cache of weapons of mass destruction (which were never found).

Did Saddam's father die in the first Iraq War?

He never knew his father, Hussein 'Abid al-Majid, who disappeared six months before Saddam was born.

Why did Saddam Hussein resign?

Saddam Hussein never resigned. If you read the transcripts from the criminal proceedings against him (constituted by the US-led Iraqi Authorities), Saddam Hussein repeatedly argues that as the still-reigning President of Iraq, he declares these proceedings in violation of Iraqi law. Saddam was pushed out of power by military force, but never officially resigned his presidency.

What were the Differences between Hitler and Saddam?

There are many, many of these differences. The two people were from very different time periods. Also, Saddam Hussein was an Iraqi Arab, Hitler was a naturalized German whose family came from Austria. Saddam Hussein did not give orders to kill as many people as Hitler gave orders to kill. As a traditional Arab person, Saddam Hussein cared a lot about making sure that the people with the most power were mostly close relatives of his, from the same clan as him. Hitler did not care very much about what FAMILY people were from, but instead, he used other ways to judge how much power people should have. Many times, Saddam Hussein gave orders that people in his own family should be killed. Hitler never did this. Also, Saddam sometimes punished people by killing them himself, Hitler did not. Saddam had children, and liked to have sex. Hitler did not have children, and almost never wanted to have anything to do with women. Both of them ordered the use of poison gas in battle, but only Hitler was himself *hurt* by poison gas in battle, in World War I. Hitler was convicted of a crime and spent time in prison -- he came to power only after he was released from prison. By contrast, Saddam was convicted of crimes, spent time in prison, and was put to death, but this was only after he lost power. Saddam was put to death by hanging because he was convicted in a court. Hitler was not put to death by anybody, but committed suicide by shooting himself. There was a time when Hitler wanted to be a writer and an artist. By contrast, there was a time when Saddam Hussein wanted to be a writer, but Saddam Hussein never thought about becoming an artist.

Was Saddam Hussein cooperating with Al-Qaeda during the Iraq war?

Saddam Hussein was actually ideologically opposed to everything Al-Qaeda stood for. He never desired or cared for religion, let alone religious politics or Islamism. Saddam Hussein was an ardent Nationalist Secularist and opposed the Internationalist Islamist agenda of Al-Qaeda. Both are notably violent philosophies and both are in the Islamic World, but that is where the similarity ends. Both people/organizations had a fundamentally different view of the world and therefore were not aligned. He did not like the idea of having to give control to small cells that he could not control directly, and he did not like the idea of directly antagonizing the West. (Many of the things he did antagonized the West, but he did not do those things desiring confrontation.) Saddam Hussein's goal was regional supremacy and had no interest in the worldwide regime change advocated by Al-Qaeda. The only reason a relationship developed between Saddam Hussein and Al-Qaeda after the start of the war is that it quickly became clear that the Iraqi Army could not hold back the American Army and that a guerilla war would be the only viable resistance to foreign occupation. Since Al-Qaeda excels at that type of warfare, he extended an invitation for them to come in, but this occurred only AFTER the Iraq War began.

What type of lifestyle did Saddam Hussein live?

Saddam Hussien lived a life of deciete and hate. He wanted only to gain, and never to give. He invaded Kuwait in because he needed to pay his debt in Europe, he plotted to kill thousands of people in the Trade Center and Pentegon massacres(cause I'm one of those Idiots who think Saddam and Iraqi people hit the world trade centres and should be shiped over there for my arrogence), and he hid from his deserved fate for years... He didn't care about the path of destruction he left behind him, he cared only for his next conquest. Saddam Hussein is nobody's hero; Iraq is still suffering from his rein of terror. Now Saddam is dead, and no one cherishes his memory. Sorry to tell you this but Saddam was backed by the America Government for years as was Osama Bin Ladin and Saddam was not responsible for the trade centre and Pentagon attacks. It was all a lie by the American Government to justify going to war. Their aim is to control the natural resources in the region. I do agree he was a tyrant.

Did Saddam Hussein retain power after the Persian Gulf war in 1990 - 1991?

Yes, he retained his power. The two missions of the Gulf Coalition were to protect Saudi Arabia (Operation Desert Shield) and liberate Kuwait (Operation Desert Storm). Removing Hussein from the Iraqi presidency was never intended or attempted, although after the war some critics argued that it should have been done in 1991.

How did america respond to the 911?

They started bombing randomly all over Afghanistan killing the innocent civilians that lived there so the world would focus its attention there. Then its forces were sent to Iraq to take out Saddam Hussein because of supposed claims of Bio-weapons (which were never found) because some rich and greedy people wanted access to the oil there. They found Saddam (not responsible for 911) hiding in a tunnel like hole in the ground. Bin-Laden has never been found.

How were the Kurds treated when Saddam Hussein was the leader of Iraq?

Saddam Husein treated his national people terribly. He kept them poor, uneducated and unexposed to the global environment. He would annihilate anyone he felt like killing, even his own family members. He was oppressive and mean. Thousands of of people lost their family members due to his murderous streak. Some people were killed and buried secretly. Many Iraqis have never known what happened to their family members.
