purchased a vehicle from a friend. Now that I have paid for it in full, the guy I bought it from will not give me the title. I'm not even sure if he ever had the title transferred to his name when he purchased it. I need to know how to go about getting a title. Please help. Thank you

What happens if a dealer does not send the title to the owner of a vehicle?

It normally take 30-45 days to get a title. I you financed the vehicle, you wont get the title, the lienholder will get it and send it to you once the loan is paid in full.

During my marriage my husband said he had a surprise for me but I paid for it with my money from my lawsuit can he rightfully sell my car?

He can sell it if his name is on the title. Wether you paid for it or not it wont matter all that buyers look for is the name on the title that is the true owner of the car and has complete control over it.

Yes. The title and registration is the same as putting your name on a hot wheels car for show and tell in Kindergarten. It is still your car, so tell your friend to give it back

Can you reclaim a puppy - that you gave to a girl as a gift - if it is registered in your name as the owner?

In most cases, once you gift a puppy to someone, you no longer have legal ownership over the pet, even if it's registered in your name. If you want to reclaim the puppy, you would typically need to negotiate with the new owner or seek legal advice. It's important to consider the well-being of the pet and handle the situation with care.

How do you obtain title for a vehicle once the lien is satisfied?

The title is mailed to the leinholder after you register the car. The leinholder just has to sign off on it and give it to you. You can keep the title like that until you sell the vehicle, but if you lose the title and try to get a duplicate, the dmv wont give you one because there is a lein still showing on the title in the computer. The best thing to do once you get it from the leinholder is to take the title to the dmv and see if they can just put the information in the computer. If not, you should apply for another title that doesn't show a lein on it.

What rights do you have as an owner of the car where the other person is making the payments but wont tell you where the car is?

If your name is on the title to the car you have an equal right to the use and possession of the car. You may need to bring a lawsuit to assert your rights or to make the other owner buy out your interest. You should inquire at your local small claims court to determine if the case would come under its jurisdiction. You would need a copy of the Certificate of Title listing your name as owner for evidence of ownership.
