Nothing 'happens' it just means you missed your period.
Irregular cycles are normal in your teens, it takes time for your body to reach a point where it is mature enough to ovulate (thus menstruate) on a regular basis, also while you're still developing physically and sexually it can effect your hormones and so in turn effect your menstrual cycles. Even adult women will experience a late or absent period due to issues such as stress or ill health around the time they were due to ovulate; if not 100% healthy the body will try to delay ovulation in order to prevent pregnancy when not fit enough to cope with pregnancy, thus delayed ovulation means delayed menstruation.
It's only a concern if you miss three periods in a row, even then it's likely just hormonal so your doctor would just check your hormones via a blood test and find nothing wrong - although some doctors may suggest using combination Birth Control pill to 'regulate' periods it in fact does no such thing, it causes a regular vaginal bleed but this is not the same as having a regular period.

this is the exact same thing that happend to me.. women start there periods at different times, everyone is diffrent. this is completely normal my mother didnt start her period until she was 16. so it just all depends on youre body. try asking youre mom or grandmother when she started her period and it might give you an idea about when you might. but until then be GLAD you havnt starte lol.. be patient it takes time sweetheart. hope i could help!
