It depends on the flashlight.

  • Old style lights with incandescent bulbs will light regardless of the direction the current flows. The problem is that misinstalled batteries may not contact the connectors properly and no current flows.
  • For modern LED lights the current must flow in the proper direction due to the nature of diodes so the batteries must be installed correctly. This applies for many diode and transistor using systems such as wireless keyboards and mice.

It would.of course, be more interesting if backward installed batteries caused the flashlight to suck in light and cast a beam of darkness - but the real world does not work in this way

What happens if you put the batteries in a flashlight in the wrong direction?

Nothing -_-.....

What happens when energy stored in a flashlight battery is used up?

The flashlight can not be turned on as it no power now.

What happens when you stick two 9 volt batteries together?

If you connect positive to positive and negative to negative you will have a 9V battery with twice the current capacity in milliampere hrs than a single batteries. The load then goes between positive and negative paralleled terminals. If you connect one negative of one battery to one positive of the other battery and put the load between the remaining negative and positive terminals you have created an 18 V battery with the same milliampere hr rating as a single battery. If you connect one negative to positive of other battery and the negative of that battery to the positive of the first battery then both batteries with quickly drain and get hot in the process. Contrary to folklore or urban lefends, they do not explode.

What happens if the batteries terminal comes out of the battery?

Dead battery -will no longer charge.

When does chemical change happen on a flashlight to produce electricity?

It happens when you turn on the flashlight and a circuit is created through the batteries, through the light filament, back down the outside of the batteries to the end of the batteries, etc. Switching off the flashlight breaks the circuit, curtails the chemical reaction in the batteries, and the light goes out.

What happens to a car if when attempting to boost a dead battery you inadvertantly cross the positive and negative on the dead battery?

If you cross the neg. with the pos. on a battery you could blow up both batteries and also blow the fuses on both cars.

What happens when you burn a flashlight battery?

It might explode. It will certainly send toxic gasses into the environment.

What happens when you connect positive to negative in 6 volt battery?

If it's a car/motorcycle battery you will be welding! If it's a small electronics battery nothing. Volts are not really the issue here, but amps are. And yes some old cars did or do have 6 volt batteries if not converted...

What happens when you chnage a battery in an 2003 Aztek and you have full power but nothing happens?

Did it run before you swapped batteries or did you guess it was a bad battery. Did you have the old battery tested? If it ran before you swapped batteries then i would say you left something unhooked or the battery terminals are cruddy and need cleaned

What happens if rechargeable batteries are not recharged for a long time?

Rechargeable batteries that are not charged for a long time will still work sufficiently. Batteries that are overcharged will damage the battery.

What happens when hooking 2 9 volt batteries together?

Interconnecting Two 9 Volt BatteriesWhat happens "when hooking 2 9 volt batteries together" depends on HOW they are connected together. IF you connect the Negative terminals together, AND the Positive terminals together, then nothing happens other than creating a 9 volt battery capable of providing twice the current [measured in Milliamps (mA), or Amps (A)].On the other hand, IF the batteries are connected with the Positive terminals to the Negative terminals of the other, THEN you will have created a very serious and possibly hazardous condition!!!!!When connected in this manner, the full current of both batteries flows, basically a full short circuit condition, and both batteries will very quickly heat up to the point of self destruction, and very likely to explode.Even it they do not explode, they will certainly become hot enough to severely burn you, and start a fire if they are in near proximity to anything combustible. Therefore, DO NOT interconnect any batteries, with both of their Positive terminals to the other's Negative without a load [electricity using device within the the circuit] to limit the current flow.If you connect the positive terminal of one battery to the negative terminal of the other and then put the load between the remaining positive and negative terminals on each battery you then have an 18 V battery. This is connecting the batteries in series.
