Sahel
The Sahara is a vast desert region in North Africa known for its arid climate and sandy landscapes, while the Sahel is a semi-arid transitional zone south of the Sahara that experiences periodic droughts and supports more vegetation. The Sahel acts as a buffer between the Sahara Desert and the more fertile savannas further south.
Im doing this in geography for my coursework and basically the nomadic people are the ones changing the Sahel by doing a process called slash and burn. Slash and burn is when the tribe uses the land and all its resources and then just moves on to a new peice of land. The land before is left baron and dry, this is the process of desertification. hope i could help lol :) Hannah,14

A Sahel is a strip of land that divides the desert from the wetter areas. A Sahel has a steppe climate which means rainfall varies there from year to year. it is also quite dry, but does provide some vegetation for animals to graze. A sahel is the fringe of the desert. A desert can spread and grow because of overgrazing and deforestation. The sahel is the edge which is spreading.
The Sahel is a zone of transition between the Sahara desert in the North and the Sudanian Savannas in the south of Northern Africa. Essentially a strip of land running across Africa just south of the Sahara. The Sahel is mostly covered in grassland and savanna, with areas of woodland and shrub land. It is fairly dry but suitable for large populations of grazing herbivores.
The Sahel is the ecoclimatic and biogeographic zone of transition in Africa between the Sahara desert to the north and the Sudanian Savanna to the south. It is arid land but not a true desert.
